Soft and gooey chocolate chip cookies to binge eat while you binge watch Netflix.
Chocolate chip cookies. The most classic dessert of all time. In our opinion. Everyone knows what they are. Everyone (probably) loves them. And, they are super quick and easy to whip up. Which is why we whip them up on a very regular, almost obsessive, basis.
The thing about chocolate chip cookies is that there are SO MANY different ways to make them. Alter the amount of ingredients just a little and your cookies will come out completely different.
Some people like thin and crispy cookies. Perfect for dipping into a big ole glass of milk. Other people, us included, like soft, gooey, basically under-baked cookies with chocolate puddles on top.
Don’t get us wrong, there is a time and place for each type of cookie, but nothing soothes our sweet tooth quite like a warm out of the oven cookie. SO GOOOOOOD. The fact that these are so easy and require ingredients you most definitely already have in your kitchen makes them dangerously addicting. You have been warned.
We like to use semi-sweet chocolate as well as dark chocolate, however feel free to use whatever amount and combination of chocolate that you like. Placing large chunks of chocolate on top of the dough balls right before you put them in the oven results in the glorious puddles of chocolate that you see with these.
We also like to bang the tray against the counter right after we take them out of the oven. It’s weird. and loud. BUT, it flattens out the cookies and leaves you with a gooey center and crisp brown edges. Slam, don’t slam, either way you will end up with delicious cookies. Promise.
This recipe makes 12 decent sized cookies. If you need to make cookies for a crowd you can simply double the recipe! ENJOY!
Chocolate Chip Cookies
Ingredients
- 1 1/3 Cup flour
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp cornstarch
- 1 stick butter, softened
- 1/2 Cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup chocolate chips semi sweet
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In the bowl of a stand mixer beat the softened butter with the sugars and vanilla until light and fluffy. Add the egg and mix until combined. Scrape the sides of the bowl.
- In a separate bowl mix the flour, baking soda and cornstarch.
- Slowly add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until incorporated. Fold in the chocolate chips.
- Using a cookie scoop evenly distribute the down on your cookie sheet. Give the dough some space to spread out as it bakes. Before you put the dough in the oven, place more chocolate chips, or chocolate chunks on top of each dough ball.
- Bake for 9-11 minutes or until the edges start to brown.
- Once you take them out of the oven, slam the pan against the counter to flatten out the cookies (this is optional).
